Petco Chihuahua Races 2009

Rarry Baños Case-Martin is officially registered to race in the annual Petco chihuahua races in San Ramon, CA on August 1st.!! Come for all of the fun and humorous times that are guaranteed to happen!

We knew our little boy had a God-given gift the first time we ever saw him run, but this is a perfect opportunity to see him reach his full potential.

Last year, my mom Irma cut out a newspaper article (as she often does) to show me about the Petco Chihuahua Race in Palo Alto, CA. She said, "I think Rarry could win this." (Said in her Colombian accent.) I told her I agreed, but that since Palo Alto was a regional contest that we'd missed the qualifying race before the Finals. We were disappointed as we had a great deal of excitement about his prospects, but vowed to stay on top of it for 2009, so we could enter little Rarry Baños into the contest, so he can test out his racing skills.

Of course, my mom being low-key and not competitive at all, said, "He has a natural talent. If he loses, it's because he wasn't trained." No pressure.

So, in the next few weekends we're going to have to train the little boy to run in a straight line, instead of in circles like a sheep dog, as he does when he's really excited. (We suspect that when he lived in Los Banos -- correctly pronounced "baños," hence his name-- he probably lived on a farm because he possesses a crazy herding instinct, including running in circles, nipping at heels, and generally "herding" the family.)

We hope and believe our little one has a chance at winning, but more importantly, we really we hope that Rarry has a lot of fun and we'll be as giddy as schoolgirls watching him and all the chis have at it.

Come and join us this August 1st for all the fun!

Yes, I belong to the cult of Adam Lambert.

I love him. He reminds me of a cross between Elvis and David Bowie. And I do think he is Elvis's reincarnation.

As for his last songs, here are some that I'd love to see him sing:

Adam is so versatile, he kills whether rocking, or singing soulfully or singing jazz (see "Feelin' Good")... but personally, he is so wonderful when he sings beautiful ballads.

Here are some suggestions of ballads he'd nail:

"I Just Love You" - Five for Fighting (it will make you cry) search on youtube!
"Lately" by Stevie Wonder
"Georgia" by Willie Nelson
"Time After Time" by Cindi Lauper
"Orphan Girl" by Gillian Welch (but he might have to change the pronoun)
"Jolene" by Dolly Parton

Some rock songs he'd nail:

"Kashmir" Led Zeppelin
"Under Pressure" David Bowie
& of course, the aforementioned
"Sweet Child O' Mine"
"Bohemian Rhapsody"
"Livin' on a Prayer" or "Wanted Dead or Alive"

Misc.:

"Bizarre Love Triangle" by New Order
"Take on Me" by Aha
"Just Like Heaven" by The Cure
"Do you Realize" by the Flaming Lips
Any Prince, but "I Would Die 4 u" and "Raspberry Beret" would make me really, really happy.

Ok, that's just my two cents. I think he could sing with a mouthful of cotton or gauze and still sound lovely.
